BELOVED AND BLOOD WASHED
LESSON # 5: YOU ARE BLOOD HEALED
I. SIN HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE CAUSE OF AND LINK TO SICKNESS
Old Testament: Before Adam sinned, there was no sickness in the world. Therefore, sickness is a product of sin!
New Testament: The Jews always regarded sickness as a product of sin
John 9:2 Who did sin that this man was born blind?
Mat 9:2 Then behold, they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, "Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you."
Mat 9:3 And at once some of the scribes said within themselves, "This Man blasphemes!"
Mat 9:4 But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, "Why do you think evil in your hearts?
Mat 9:5 For which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven you,' or to say, 'Arise and walk'?
Mat 9:6 But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins"—then He said to the paralytic, "Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house."
Jesus was showing that He had the power over sin AND sickness!!!
II. WHEN CHRIST CONQUERED SIN ON THE CROSS HE ALSO CONQUERED SICKNESS
On the Cross, Jesus paid for our sins with his shed blood. The same blood, at that same time, healed our sicknesses.
His blood cleansed us of sin and healed us of sickness!
“who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.” I Peter 2:24 NKJV
39 stripes - 39 major categories of diseases
But, you say, how can that be when we still get sick?
Well, he paid for our sins, but we can still sin. We are just no longer slaves to sin.
Therefore, though Christ healed our sicknesses, we can still get sick. We are just no longer slaves to sickness.
We don’t have to live in sin or sickness. We don’t have to succumb to sickness unless He is calling us home!
In order for us to not live in sin or sickness, to not be a slave to sin, there are two things that must occur:
ONE, we have to KNOW that sin and sickness has been paid for and conquered through Christ’s blood,
TWO, we have to SPEAK it, claim it, and appropriate this truth!
We overcome by the blood of the lamb and by the word of our testimony. (Rev 12:11) It’s a partnership. He shed the blood, we speak the word!
1 John 1:9 says, If we sin, we must confess and repent from our sins!
James 5:15 tells us: “And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.” NKJV
BLOOD HEALED MEANS THAT THE SAME BLOOD THAT FORGAVE US, HAS ALSO HEALED US, AND WE MUST CLAIM IT IN JESUS’ NAME!
